Nancy Synnestvedt
Nancy was born in the United States and lived in Canada and Germany before settling permanently in New Zealand.
She graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1984 and taught art, art history, photography and printmaking in Auckland for 12 years.
Since 2001 she has painted full-time and likes to work with geometric shapes and vertical and horizontal lines because "of the serene balance and order they give to compositions".
"My works are not narrative or political but rather they follow the traditions of those artists who explore the joy, the intensity and the spiritual qualities of colour."
