Claudia Pond-Eyley

Claudia Pond-Eyley was born in Matamata in 1946, and was educated in Montreal, Canada and Yonkers, New York. She studied at Elam School of Arts, University of Auckland and graduated in 1968 with a Diploma in Fine Arts. She travelled to the USA, Canada, Britain and Europe in 1973. She has lectured at the University of Auckland.

Her work explores feminist concerns and personal experiences, alongside more representational works of flowers and foliage. Strong simplified outlines and bold colours juxtaposed with monochromatic backgrounds create striking and dynamic pieces.
