Tom Burnett
Recent Exhibiton 'New Works Tom Burnett and Russell Jackson'
Tom Burnett was born in London, but returned to New Zealand in his youth living at Clendon Cove in the Bay of Islands. Being surrounded by the sea and making trips to the islands influenced his subject matter in his printmaking that he began in 1981.
He achieves a soft effect in screenprinting by using waterbased paints on high quality, heavyweight, French cotton rag paper. Warm tropical colours and atmospheres capture Burnett's lifestyle and surroundings of coastal Northland.
