Original art makes a great gift for all sorts of special occasions. We're happy to help you with your gift selection or we can organise a gift or wedding register if you prefer for the recipient to select their own artwork.
We have a lot of experience in helping people with gift selections and can put together several ideas for you to select from, some are inspired by successful customer choices in the past others are waiting to be discovered.
For personal assistance please phone or email us if you can't make it into the gallery.
Christenings and Children's Gifts
Bet you never thought the littlies would be into fine art. But talking of investing for the future and buying worthwhile gifts, instead of more plastic throwaways, we've had some inventive customers selecting delightful christening and toddler gifts, often for grandchildren.
Among popular artists on the littlies list is Mychael Barratt - the only overseas artist at the gallery because we love his whimsical work. In the past we've had a christening gift purchase of prints for baby twins - Oberon for the son and Titania for the daughter.

As you can see, these make magical nursery wall hangings - but will be just as much appreciated in years to come when the children have grown up.
Mychael, who is based in the UK, is highly regarded for his aquatint etchings which are sold through a number of established galleries, as illustrations for a variety of high quality publications.
Another artist whose works appeals to children and adults alike is Ted Dutch. Trained in the UK, Ted's works are populated by zany musicians, technicians, spacemen and clowns. His works include paintings, screenprints, mixed media, and hand-crafted porcelain sculptures of some of his favourite figures.

Yong Hyun-Kwon, a Christchurch-based Korean artist, is a master of mezzotint printing, a specialised technique that produces rich tonal qualities. His spirituality shines in his works - many of which make wonderful children's gifts.

Young Adults (Including 21st Birthdays)
Screenprints by Auckland artist Tracey Williams have developed something of a cult following among young women (and a few young guys as well). Tracey's images have also been adapted for some designer fashion T-shirts and jackets, and also incorporated in a fabric produced by leading New Zealand textile artist, Doris De Pont.
View more of Tracey's work in her artist gallery on this site, but here are images of a couple of her works that show why she has such a following.

A number of customers have bought some of Tony Ogle's recent "Free Wheeling" series of retro look screenprints for their sons - they particularly like "Free Loader " - does it remind you of anyone you know? One couple bought "Free Loader" for their son's 21st - then decided they liked the look of a set of three of the Free Wheeling series framed as a triptych and bought that for themselves.

Tony is an Auckland - based artist whose love of surfing and favourite NZ surfing spots influence many of his works. These works seem to be popular gifts for men of all ages - including "senior" surfers in their sixties.
Corporate and Farewell Gifts
We've had a number of companies who have bought gift vouchers from us for retirement gifts so departing staff can choose their own memento. However many prefer to have something tangible to give at the farewell ceremony and often choose landscapes that portray an area of significance to the recipient. We are happy to exchange these gifts if they are returned in good order soon after the gifting. The sky's the limit when it comes to choosing a landscape work - ranging in price from small prints through to large painted canvases. We suggest you have a look through the website to find the sort of thing that interest you, but please contact us for suggestions, we are happy to help.
